Numerous scientists, physicians, and experts in the fields of Ayurveda, yoga and meditation met in Graz for a three-day symposium on the theme of “Aging in Good Health”. Organized by the Department of Physiology at the Otto Loewi Research Center of the Graz Medical University, the symposium provided a fertile ground for discussions about many possibilities to promote evidence-based research, especially focusing on active and healthy aging.

As one of the keynote speakers, Lothar Pirc gave a lecture on Ayurveda.

The goal of the symposium was to establish a network for all people involved in healthcare. In addition, as the venue was in the heart of Graz, the extensive program was easily accessible to the general public and open for participation in the lively exchange on Ayurveda, yoga and meditation.

Special guest of honor was Ms. Renu Pall, Ambassador of India to Austria, who opened the symposium.

During the event, Mr. Pirc also discussed planned research studies, to be conducted at the Maharishi AyurVeda Health Centre, Bad Ems, supervised by the Department of Medicine at the Graz University. The purpose of the research is to scientifically document the effectiveness of Ayurvedic therapies.

Following the symposium, Associate Professor Mr. Nandu Goswami of the Institute of Physiology at the Medical University of Graz visited the clinic in Bad Ems to personally witness the high standard of the Ayurveda treatments and to further discuss the implementation of the research proposals.

The letter shown below confirms the Medical University of Graz’s intention to collaborate with the Maharishi AyurVeda Health Centre Bad Ems in this research, to supply necessary medical equipment and train the staff.
