meets Western Science” – 2017

Participants of a podium discussion during the Congress: Dr. Ulrich Bauhofer, Dr. Ernst Schrott und Dr. Wolfgang Schachinger (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ayurveda), Prof. Dr. Ammon (University of Tübingen), Dr. Christian Kessler (Charité – University Medicine Berlin), Lothar Pirc (Maharishi Ayurveda Health Centre Bad Ems), Dr. Renate Syed (Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich).

Invited by the German Society for Ayurveda (DGA) and the EURAMA (European Ayurveda Medical Association) on the theme „Fascination Ayurveda – Eastern wisdom meets western science“ from 15 to 17 November 2013 the leading experts of Ayurveda in Europe came together.

The congress took place in „Gothic hall“ in Berlin. Simultaneously, the German Society for Ayurveda celebrated its 30th anniversary. Prior to the congress, my wife Karin and I invited the members of the German Bundestag and numerous representatives of the health insurance companies and health associations. Parallel to the event discussions, we were able to explain the possibilities of Ayurveda to representatives from insurance companies.

Besides well-known representatives of the Berlin Charité, the University Hospital of the Ruhr-University Bochum and Dr. Robert Schneider of the Medical College Wisconsin / USA more Ayurveda experts reported on their findings and the importance and perspectives of Ayurveda in Germany and Europe. But even with a full program of lectures and workshops, there was an opportunity for humor, cozy gathering, talking off the technical issues and even for a Maharishi Gandharva Veda concert on Saturday evening.
